conflict resolution
I’m a qualified mediator trained in psychologically-informed mediation, accredited by the Civil Mediation Council. I offer conflict resolution services to individuals, groups and organisations across the UK.
I work in a psychologically-informed way, which means the approach I take acknowledges that conflicts are primarily psychological and inter-relational. Therefore, as the mediator, I prioritise the emotional wellbeing and psychological safety of everyone involved.
I specialise in working with creative people and organisations to find safe and supportive ways to heal conflict. Clients have included performers, artist groups, theatre companies and venues. Conflict can arise between collaborators during a project, within management relationships or between freelancers and institutions.
I offer support as an independent facilitator to help re-establish dialogue, understand the issues and work with everyone involved to find a suitable way forward.
If you would like support with difficult conversations or to learn whether mediation can help you or your organisation, contact me to arrange a free initial consultation.

Facilitated conversations are light-touch mediated meetings, which are suitable for issues that have developed recently and would benefit from early intervention.
Facilitated conversations can also be used to create partnership agreements and codes of conduct, helping to avoid disputes later on.
The process is open and supportive, offering a fast and cost-effective way to resolve issues and make agreements.
Meetings can be held in-person or via video call and usually last 2-4 hours, plus preparatory conversations with participants in advance.
Fees are £300-500 including consultation and preparation, depending on time and number of participants.

A one day mediation is suitable for all types of conflict. It offers defined time and space to safely explore the issues, even if they are inflamed or long standing.
The process is entirely confidential and includes pre-mediation conversations via phone, a pre-mediation agreement, one day of mediation, plus a written agreement and follow up calls, if desired.
I explain the process to everyone involved on a one-to-one basis. I can also support with obtaining consent to mediate from each participant.
For more information about the process see ‘frequently asked questions about mediation’ below.
A full day of mediation starts at £900, a half day at £500. I offer discounts to individuals with limited funds.

frequently asked questions about mediation
-
Mediation helps people resolve conflict. It is a voluntary, private and confidential process guided by an independent and impartial mediator, who supports the participants toward a mutually agreeable outcome.
It offers a human-centred approach to holding difficult conversations and resolving conflict. Mediation also provides an effective informal alternative to legal action, which can be stressful, expensive and lengthy.
-
Mediation can be used for a broad range of issues and circumstances. This can include conflict within romantic, family, community or work relationships, as well as contractual disputes, management issues, divisions of resources or assets and alongside formal procedures such as disciplinary or grievance, and many more.
Conflict brings with it financial and emotional burdens. This can lead to stress and anxiety, diminished relationships, sickness, loss of work and income, missed deadlines, low morale and poor emotional wellbeing.
Early intervention through mediation can help avoid these stressors, and save time and money.

The process will begin with pre-mediation conversations between the mediator and each person in advance, usually via phone. This helps the mediator understand the reasons for mediation and provides an opportunity to discuss the process.
The mediation will take place at an agreed time and place, and is usually completed in one day. I use the shuttle method, where participants are separated and each has their own space to talk and think about the issues with me in confidence. When there is common ground and shared concerns to discuss, I bring the participants back together.
Depending on the issues being mediated, there might also be a written agreement, usually prepared by the mediator at the end of the mediation. Any agreement or resolution that is reached is determined solely by the participants.
I offer pre-mediation and follow up conversations to help the participants adjust to each stage of the process. I provide all information ahead of the mediation and welcome questions and feedback at every stage.

Mediation is much more cost effective than taking a legal route through conflict. Early intervention can also help safeguard people’s wellbeing, as well as time and money lost through unfinished projects, broken contracts and sickness.
Costs can vary depending on the number of participants, the location and the resources available.
It is common for participants to split the costs between them. For workplace mediation, the costs are usually covered by the employer.
As an example, my fee for a one day workplace mediation starts at £900. This includes pre-mediation conversations, pre-mediation agreements and administration, travel time, one day of mediation, a written agreement and follow up calls, if desired.
Facilitated conversations can be achieved for £300-500, using a similar, more light-touch process. Contact me to find out more.
